LIMITED BY HUMANITY
Local · Private · Personal
Independent IT consulting for small business — Portland, Oregon.
IT support that answers.
Most small businesses buy IT from a managed services provider and get what that model produces: a ticket queue, a rotating cast of technicians, and a bill that grows whether or not anything improves.
I work differently. You call, I answer. No tier-1 script, no re-explaining the same problem to a different stranger every week. I bill for my time, pass hardware and software through at cost, and document everything — so your environment belongs to you, not to your provider.
"One person who knows your environment, your people, and your history."
Limited By Humanity is a small operation on purpose. Craft over scale. Relationships over ticket volume. Technology that answers to the people who use it.
The foundation.
Local
Portland-based, on site and in person. Your team knows my face; I know your building, your equipment, and your workflows.
Private
You own your environment. Every credential, configuration, and vendor relationship documented and in your hands — never locked inside a provider's system.
Personal
A direct line to one person who knows your history. Same-business-day response, in plain English.
- Aligned incentives — I bill for time; hardware and software pass through at cost
- Documentation and ownership of your own environment
- Honesty about what you need — and what you don't
- Craft and care over ticket volume
- Practical, privacy-first guidance on AI — what's real, what's hype, and what belongs nowhere near your business data
The work.
Managed IT
Day-to-day support for your whole team — workstations, servers, and the mystery problems in between. Proactive patching, monitoring, and backups that are verified to restore.
Microsoft 365 & Azure
Tenant administration, Entra ID, Exchange, and licensing that's right-sized. You'd be surprised what you're paying for that nobody uses.
Leaving Your MSP
A structured transition: full audit, orderly access handoff, a parallel run with your outgoing provider, and documentation delivered to ownership.
Hardware Lifecycle
Sourcing, configuration, and deployment — passed through at cost. Workstation refreshes and Windows upgrades without disruption.
Mobile Devices
iPhones, iPads, and the management behind them — procurement, setup, security, and support.
Vendors, Handled
Microsoft, Sophos, Sage, Procore — whoever yours are, I manage them so you don't have to. One point of contact for everything.
Thirty years of answering the call.
My career started in 1993, fixing computers for neighbors and local businesses — and word of mouth carried it from there. Everything since has been built the same way: someone has a problem, I resolve it, and they tell someone else.
Along the way: five years on the Genius Bar at Apple. Deskside engineering at Nike, supporting an enterprise of more than 4,000 people with a 99% customer-satisfaction record. Most recently, the sole IT support resource for all 65 of Dr. Martens' North American retail stores — Microsoft 365, Azure and Entra ID, point-of-sale, networking, and mobile devices, for staff whose job was selling boots, not troubleshooting computers.
On the infrastructure side, my Microsoft MCSE dates to the Windows 2000 era — I've been administering Windows Server, Active Directory, and domain environments since before many MSP technicians started their careers. Certifications held across the years include Microsoft MCSE, Cisco CCNA, CompTIA A+, and Apple professional certifications.
- 30+ years of hands-on technical support
- 4,000+ enterprise users supported at Nike — 99% satisfaction
- Sole IT resource for 65 Dr. Martens retail locations
- Five years at the Apple Genius Bar
- Windows Server & Active Directory since 2000
Steady, visible, accountable.
On-Site
A scheduled day at your office. Your staff can bring problems to a person, in person — and hardware work happens where the hardware is.
Remote
Monitoring, patching, backup checks, and most day-to-day fixes handled remotely — usually within minutes of a call or message.
Accountable
A brief monthly summary to ownership: what broke, what was fixed, what was prevented, and what's coming. No jargon.
